On Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) reported a fifth outbreak of COVID-19 at their Kingston General Hospital (KGH) site.

The most recent outbreak involves six patients on the Connell 9 unit. Only designated essential care providers who have been approved by the care team and who actively participate in a loved one’s care are permitted on the unit at this time, KHSC stated.

COVID-19 outbreaks are also ongoing on the Connell 3, Davies 5, Kidd 6 and Connell 10 units. Yesterday KHSC declared an outbreak on the Kidd 6 unit. The outbreak on Connell 10 was noted on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, and both the Connell 3 and Davies 5 outbreaks were declared on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022. “KFL&A Public Health has been notified, and KHSC is notifying patients, visitors and staff affected by the outbreak,” the hospital organization shared in a media release. “KHSC is also completing the necessary contact tracing and testing for individuals on the unit.”

“KHSC’s top priority is the safety of our patients, health-care workers and community. As we continue to see community spread of COVID-19, KHSC thanks everyone for helping to prevent the spread of the virus within the hospital, including adherence to our screening processes, masking requirements and visitor restrictions.”
