Kingston Health Sciences Centre says it is giving loved ones of patients at its health facilities one additional opportunity to visit them before the provincial lockdown takes effect.

“As Ontario imposes a province-wide lockdown starting Saturday, April 3, Kingston Health Sciences Centre is allowing any registered family member to visit their loved one at our Kingston General Hospital or Hotel Dieu Hospital site on Friday, April 2,” said KHSC in a release.

The one-day-only, special arrangement comes in advance of new visiting restrictions that KHSC says will take effect on Saturday, April 3, as the community and province work to curb the surge in COVID-19 case numbers and hospitalizations.

“We remind you that COVID-19 remains a safety concern within our hospital and community,” said KHSC. “When registered family members visit on Friday, we ask that they please limit visits to no more than three hours for physical distancing and to reduce crowding.”

The hospital says that registered family members who do not pass screening tests will not be permitted to enter KHSC. In addition, patients who are on quarantine will not be able to have a family visit.
