KFPL takes summer reading to a new level with clubs, challenges, and prizes

Summer is here and Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL) is inviting people of all ages to dive into adventure, imagination, and awesome prizes with their summer reading programs. “With clubs and challenges for children, teens and adults, summer reading is rewarding and fun,” KFPL expressed.
This year, all of the programs are running on Beanstack, a virtual platform that makes it easy to track reading, according to a release from the library. Through Beanstack, KFPL manages reading logs, cheers readers on while they work toward their goals, and lets people know when they’ve earned prizes. The platform is available online or as a mobile app.
“Our goal is to encourage people of all ages to read and to keep learning throughout their lives,” said Kimberly Sutherland Mills, Director, Service Design and Delivery. “Beanstack makes staying motivated, engaged and reading easy all summer.”
All programs officially begin on Saturday, Jun. 24 and end on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023. Pre-registration is open now at kfpl.beanstack.com.
KFPL shared the following details on their summer reading programs:
Summer reading for kids
KFPL invites all kids 12 and under to participate in the TD Summer Reading Club (TDSRC). Joining the TD Summer Reading Club can ensure the gears of learning keep turning, even during seasonal gaps outside the classroom! The club is free, bilingual, and does not require meetings — kids can read at home, the library, or anywhere else summer takes them.
For every milestone hit, young readers will be entered to win prizes drawn in June, July and August. Those that complete their full challenge are entered to win a $100 Indigo gift card and a goody basket.
Summer reading for teens
Get rewarded for reading! Teens can now sign up for KFPL’s Teen Summer Book-It List challenge for a chance to win amazing prizes. Logging reading, and completing challenges on Beanstack, will enter teens into draws for gift cards, an art kit, escape room kits, Squishmallows, and more, with the grand prize of a Nanoleaf Triangles kit.
This challenge is open to teens between 13 and 17 who live or attend school in Kingston or Frontenac County or have a KFPL library card.
Summer reading for adults
Summer is almost here — it’s time to Bask in Books! KFPL’s adult summer reading challenge features a new activity-based challenge each week and an opportunity to review summer reads, earning ballots for a draw.
Weekly prizes are Novel Idea or Indigo gift cards, and the grand prize basket holds $250 worth of gift cards to local businesses.
