KFPL presents Rental Properties for Canadian Women

In 2020, local authors Laura Southall and Melissa Baker-Cox published Rental Properties for Canadian Women, a detailed guide for women buying and owning rental property in Canada.
In April the pair will be giving a Zoom presentation about the book through Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL.) They’ll explain how understanding the various aspects of buying and owning rental property, including choosing a property; handling financing, mortgages and taxes; dealing with tenants; understanding the role of the Landlord and Tenant Board; and the role of the property manager can allow women to create more financially secure futures for their families, according to a release from KFPL.
Laura Southall is a financial advisor in Kingston. As a child she ran multiple small businesses (and spent her free time at the public library reading books about money), KFPL said. According to the release, she started saving for a down payment on a rental property at the age of 15. She bought her first property at the age of 23 and has since bought sold, renovated and rented many properties.
This interactive online presentation will be offered on Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m., and it will be open to adults. Registration is required, and participants will be emailed the Zoom link immediately upon registration.
Register online at calendar.kfpl.ca or by phone at (613) 549-8888. KFPL said participants will need to download the latest version of Zoom in advance to whichever device they’ll be using during the presentation.
