KFPL hosting third financial seminar for women: Saving Taxes in Retirement

The Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL) is hosting the third of four instalments of their Financial Literacy for Women series. In this session, participants will learn about the taxes incurred during retirement, and how to plan for and minimize payments.
Retirement planning is critical for everyone, and especially for women, who typically live longer into retirement but have fewer financial supports, KFPL said in a release dated Friday, Oct. 22, 2021. Understanding how taxes and retirement intersect is a key piece of financial security, the library continued. Laura Southall, Senior Wealth Advisor at Assante Financial Management Ltd., is continuing her Financial Literacy for Women series with a seminar on this subject.
“Most people don’t understand how their retirement income — from CPP and OAS, to work pensions, and personal savings — will be taxed,” Southall shared.
The 90-minute, interactive Zoom seminar will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021. Southall will educate participants about the taxes they must pay in retirement, and strategies to minimize those payments, according to the release.
Register online at https://calendar.kfpl.ca/event/5275636 or by phone at (613) 549-8888. Registrants will be emailed the link immediately upon registration and will need to download Zoom in advance.
This is the third instalment in four-part series designed to empower women to better understand their financial situations at different stages of life. It follows October’s “Getting Ready to Retire” webinar.
The fourth and final session in the series, “Passing On Your Wealth,” will take place on Zoom Tuesday, November 30 at 7 p.m.
