With a shared commitment to community well-being, Compassionate Communities Kingston and Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL) have planned advance care planning information sessions monthly through most of 2024.
In a media release, dated Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, KFPL said the sessions are aimed at individuals approaching the later stages of life, and will guide attendees in planning for their future needs and emphasize the importance of open communication regarding values and beliefs. Facilitators will lead discussions on advance care planning, providing tools for attendees to achieve peace of mind and avoid potential interpersonal conflicts.
“Compassionate Communities has partnered with KFPL to dedicate countless hours to the complex topic of late-life planning,” said Jake Miller, Librarian, Adult Programming. “In sharing knowledge and fostering dialogue, we aim to create an environment where people not only gain practical insights but also experience a sense of assurance and community support.”
The first session will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at the Isabel Turner branch. Subsequent sessions will occur on the fourth Tuesday of each month from February to November, rotating locations and running from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Registration is required for these sessions. To find out more or secure a spot in the January event, visit https://calendar.kfpl.ca/event/9838782.
