KFL&A Public Health declares COVID-19 outbreak at Polson Park PS

Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFL&A) Public Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Polson Park Public School, located in central Kingston.

The outbreak was declared on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, according to Public Health, and involves five active cases of the virus. According to data provided by the Limestone District School Board (LDSB), the first case was detected on Wednesday, Dec. 1, with two cases subsequently detected on both Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021. The LDSB listing of active COVID-19 cases within the board indicates that the cases are all student cases, and are all within one class cohort. The school remains open at this time, however, visitation to the school is restricted.

According to LDSB’s active case listing, there are currently 50 active cases of COVID-19 within the board, with outbreaks declared at seven schools. KFL&A Public Health data indicates that there were 9 active school outbreaks as of Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, with two of those outbreaks at schools within the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB).

Currently, outbreaks in local schools account for just over 16.5 per cent of active cases in the KFL&A region.
