KARC resuming normal operating hours for fall

The Kingston Area Recycling Centre (KARC) will fully reopen on Monday, Aug. 31, 2020. While the facility hours will return to normal, some operations have changed to accommodate COVID-19 measures, the City said in a press release on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020.
“We wanted to let residents know what the new normal will look like at the Kingston Area Recycling Centre, so they will know what to expect when they visit that location,” says Brandi Timpson, Acting Director of Solid Waste for the City of Kingston.
KARC’s operational details are outlined below.
Other waste-related announcements from the City
In the release, the Solid Waste Department also made these announcements:
- As Blue and Grey Boxes are again available at KARC and City Hall, collectors will no longer pick up items put out in makeshift boxes starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020.
- The November curbside collection of used single-use batteries is cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Used batteries may be dropped off at the Household Hazardous Waste Depot.
- KARC tours and school presentations are cancelled until further notice due to the pandemic and construction planned at the facility. Sustainable Kingston has produced a number of short videos for use in school programming.
