Intoxicated Kingston woman charged with assaulting a police officer

An intoxicated Kingston woman was arrested after she locked herself in a car while resisting her parent’s attempts to admit her to rehab and spit on an officer while resisting her subsequent arrest.
The accused woman was intoxicated and fighting with her parents outside their west end Kingston home the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019. The fight arose when the parents of the accused attempted to admit her into a local rehabilitation facility for substance abuse related issues.
The accused refused to go, and had confined herself to the family car in the driveway of the home.
Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:45 p.m. and found the accused in the back seat of the vehicle, with slurred speech and a strong odour of alcohol on her breath.
The accused woman refused to let police take her to the hospital, and when police attempted to arrest her for public intoxication she spit on her hand and then wiped it on the officer.
The accused was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was later released on conditions with a future court date.
The 21-year-old local woman was charged with assault police.
