As the result of an ongoing Internet Child Exploitation project in the province, a local man has been arrested and charged with multiple child pornography offences.

The Kingston Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit is involved in the ongoing project, funded by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, which is aimed at detecting and monitoring file-sharing networks associated with child pornography. On Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, a computer connected to a suspected file-sharing network was matched to a local IP address, and suspected child pornography digital files were captured from the computer.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, police executed a search warrant at a west end residence on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019. Multiple digital devices and data storage media were seized, and a forensic examination revealed evidence of digital files believed to meet the Criminal Code definition of ‘child pornography.’
