Inmate death reported at Millhaven Regional Treatment Centre

According to Correctional Service Canada (CSC), an inmate from the Regional Treatment Centre at Millhaven Institution has died while in their custody of apparent natural causes following an illness.

Edwin Parkinson, 75 years of age, died on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, CSC said in a press release dated Friday, January 8, 2021.

At the time of his death, Mr. Parkinson had been serving an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder, since his sentence commenced on December 22, 2016.

Parkinson’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

CSC will review the circumstances surrounding this death, as they do in all cases involving the death of an inmate. As per CSC policy, the police and coroner have been notified.
