Inmate death reported at Collins Bay Institution

An inmate from the Collins Bay Institution has died while in the custody of Correctional Service Canada (CSC).

According to CSC, Quinn Borde, died on Saturday, Apr. 2, 2022. He was 39 years old. Borde had been serving a sentence of 23 years, which began on May 9, 2008, for offences relating to attempted murder, firearms, robbery, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, and failure to comply.

In a media release dated Tuesday, Apr. 5, 2022, CSC stated that, as in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.

Borde’s next of kin have been notified.
