Inmate death reported at Millhaven Institution Regional Treatment Centre

An inmate from the Regional Treatment Centre at Millhaven Institution has died while in the custody of Correctional Service Canada.
On November 13, 2020, Ernest Desroches, an inmate from Millhaven institution Regional Treatment Centre died while in custody of apparent natural causes following an illness, according to a release from Correctional Service Canada (CSC)..
At the time of his death, Mr. Desroches, 74 years of age, had been serving a Life sentence for Non Capital Murder x2, Forcible Confinement and Prison Breach with Intent, since June 14, 1974.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
