Inmate charged after sexual assault investigation

A 59-year-old inmate is facing charges following a joint sexual assault investigation in Loyalist Township.

The investigation was carried out by the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad and the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), according to a press release from the OPP East Regional Headquarters.

As a result of the investigation, the inmate has been charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual exploitation, and sexual assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Napanee Court of Justice today (Thursday, Jul. 12, 2018).

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the institution housing the accused inmate in order to protect the privacy of the victim.
