Increased RCAF helicopter traffic anticipated over Kingston

This weekend, those in the Kingston area might notice an increase in helicopter traffic over the city and Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Kingston.

According to a release from the Department of National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces, on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, helicopters from the Royal Canadian Air Force will be flying over the area frequently from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“The helicopters CH-146 Griffon and CH-147F Chinook may cause unfamiliar noise and catch the attention of the public due to the flights’ frequency,” the release reads.

“Flying operations conducted by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) are carefully planned and closely controlled in the interest of public safety and are dependent upon weather and flying conditions.”
