Impaired driving charges laid at Sandbanks Provincial Park

A Pickering driver is facing charges after Provincial Park Wardens at Sandbanks Provincial Park requested Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assistance over the weekend.

Just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, OPP responded to the request for assistance, and arrived in dunes area of County Road 12 in Athol Ward, according to a report from OPP.

After speaking with the driver an approved screening device was administered. As a result, the driver was arrested and taken back to the Prince Edward County detachment for further testing. 

Anthony Singh, age 31 from Pickering, was arrested and charged with:  

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Singh was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on June 23, 2021. His drivers licence was suspended for a period of ninety days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Singh is responsible for all related fees and fines.
