Impaired driving charges laid after motorist strikes parked cars, dumpster

A driver is facing multiple charges after officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to multiple reports of a possible impaired driver in Amherstview

At approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, police received calls about a vehicle hitting two other vehicles and a garbage dumpster.

According to a release from the OPP, officers located the vehicle and driver at a residence in Amherstview. Officers spoke to the driver and observed them to be showing signs of impairment.

As a result of an investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Raven Hatfield, age 35, of Loyalist Township, with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Failure to remain at the scene of an incident

Hatfield was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in June 2023. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
