Impaired driver runs red light in front of officer

A local man was charged with impaired driving after the he ran a red light on Bath Road at Palace Road in plain view of a patrol officer on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at approximately 2:15 a.m.
According to Kingston Police, after the accused man ran the red light, the officer conducted a traffic stop and observed that the accused was impaired by alcohol.
The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where alcohol breath tests were administered. The accused was found to have more than one and a half times the legal limit of alcohol in his system, and was charged with impaired driving by alcohol, as well as driving with blood alcohol level equal to or over 80 mg.
The accused man’s driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle seized and impounded for seven days. The 26-year-old local man is responsible for all vehicle impound fines, and will face a one year licence suspension if convicted.
