The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Prince Edward County driver after the Prince Edward County Detachment received several complaints regarding a vehicle travelling on Highway 62.

The complaints came in shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jun. 15, 2023, according to a release from the OPP. Police located the vehicle in Picton where the driver appeared to be asleep at the wheel. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver who was transported to the detachment for further testing, the OPP stated.

Bradley Chapman, age 45 from Prince Edward County, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs
  • Operating a motor vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit

Chapman was released and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in July 2023. They also had their vehicle impounded for a period of seven days.

The OPP said that they would like to thank those who continue to remain vigilant for impaired drivers. “Everyone is encouraged to report impaired drivers by calling 911,” police said.

“Impaired driving impacts us all, do your part and plan a safe ride home.”
