If you’ve been downtown at all lately, you’ve likely noticed an abundance of activity and excitement as Feb Fest has taken over the downtown core.

The 16th annual Feb Fest kicked off at the start of February for a month full of festivities – not the least of which is Hockey Week in Downtown Kingston, presented by the Downtown! Kingston Business Improvement Area (BIA).

As such, the BIA has now announced the schedule for Hockey Week, which kicks off tomorrow and includes some big names from the NHL.

Hockey Week begins tomorrow, Thursday. Feb. 6, 2020, with the 34th Carr-Harris Cup – the continuation of the oldest rivalry in hockey between the Queen’s Gaels and the RMC Paladins. You can find all the details on that event here.

Then, Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 brings one of the busiest days of Feb Fest, with events from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Springer Market Square – some of which spill over into Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020.

Minor hockey teams take to the rink from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., featuring all of Kingston’s future hockey stars. On top of that, the Maple Leafs Fan Zone arrives at Feb Fest for the very first time at 10 a.m. on Saturday. As part of that, attendees can try skating for the first time on an artificially-surfaced pop-up rink – no skates required, just bring a helmet. The Maple Leafs Fan Zone also gives an opportunity to see what the Leafs dressing room looks like in their mobile trailer, meet members of the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Development Staff, and win Leafs Merchandise. The Maple Leafs Fan Zone will run until 6 p.m. on Saturday and then return on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In the tent at Springer Market Square, you will be able to meet hockey legend, former Leaf, and Stanley Cup winner, Gary Leeman. Leeman will be signing autographs from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Saturday continues with the 52nd playing of the Historic Hockey Series, where Queen’s, RMC and CFB Petawawa play for the trophy from 1 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on the ice at Springer Market Square. This game includes original hockey uniforms and equipment make for an exciting afternoon of old-style hockey. Then join the Kingston Frontenacs on the ice from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. when you can likely sneak in a selfie with your favourite Front.

Hockey Week events continue on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 with the Maple Leafs Fan Zone and former Leaf and Kingston native Jay McClement on site from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. That will be followed by an Easter Seals Skate from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., and then sledge hockey from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Winter Park in Boucher Park with ice slides for all to enjoy will continue, as long as Mother Nature cooperates and the vandalism in the park stops, according to the BIA. And Feb Fest will continue throughout the month with fun activities for the whole family. Click here for our full overview of Feb Fest 2020.
