Update: Hazardous materials spill on McAdoos Lane

The City of Kingston informed Kingstonist at approximately 12 p.m. that one individual was transported to hospital as a precaution after a hazardous material spill at a trucking lot on McAdoos Lane in the early morning of Thursday, August 12, 2021. The City also confirmed the substance leaked was 100 litres of hydrochloric acid.
Kingston Fire & Rescue (KFR) staff worked with management at the facility to contain the spill and evacuate the building, the City said, and a third party contractor has been sourced to clean up the spill.

Kingston Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a hazardous material spill at a trucking lot on McAdoos Lane in the early morning of Thursday, August 12, 2021.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene between Italia Lane and Landfill Lane at around 5:55 a.m. after the report that a corrosive liquid of an unknown nature had been spilled.

Frontenac Paramedics attended as a precaution and were put on standby, but cleared shortly thereafter once the scene was secured and confirmation was obtained that there had been no injuries.
Kingston Police were also dispatched at around 7:00 a.m. to assist in securing the scene.

Crews continue to respond at the scene as of 8 a.m. and the affected parking lot area remains closed to the public. More to come.
