Gear Up! opens for fourth season

Gear Up!, an initiative of Cycle Kingston, opens its doors for the 2019 season on Thursday May 16. First piloted in 2016, Gear Up! provides the Kingston community with affordable recycled used bicycles.
Bicycles have an average price of $75, and stock comes in regularly. The Bike Wizards will refurbish older, used bicycles that are in decent condition, so please donate any unused bicycles to Gear Up!
From their website:
“Our goal is to provide youth with valuable life skills and foundational work skills that will allow them to be successful in their future endeavours. Concurrently, we are aiming to provide the community with a more cost effective used bike shop, giving everyone better access to transportation.”
As a social enterprise, Gear Up! works with youth employment agencies to find students who are looking to expand their skill sets, and gain experience in the work force, for seasonal employment. These students learn mechanical skills, and have the ability to improve their social skills and customer service repertoire.
