Gaels Women’s Cross Country team wins OUA Championships

While it was a busy weekend for a number of the Queen’s Gaels teams, the Cross Country Teams had an incredible weekend and the Women’s team brought home the OUA Championship banner for the third year in a row.
Sisters Branna and Brogan MacDougall managed to take the second and third spots in the race, while the rest of the women pushed hard to ensure a victory over Guelp and Toronto, securing the win.
At the same event, the Men’s Cross Country team also reached the podium, finishing third to McMaster and Guelph after a close race.
In other Gaels happenings over the weekend from Friday, Oct. 25 to Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, both the Men’s and Women’s Rowing, Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, and Volleyball teams competed (see results below). And get ready, Kingston, because this Wednesday, Oct. 30, the Women’s Rugby team opens up the USPORT Women’s Rugby Championship against Acadia in Ottawa! The Women’s Rugby team has had an incredible season and are sure to impress in the nation’s capital.

ROSS COUNTRY – MacDougall sisters finish 2-3, women are OUA Champions for third straight year and men tiebreak to take bronze
For the third consecutive year, the women’s cross country team won the OUA Championships at Bayfront Park in Hamilton, ON on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, the men’s cross country team slid by the Windsor Lancers to win bronze behind McMaster and Guelph.

WOMEN’S RUGBY – Gaels to open 2019 U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship Wednesday night vs Acadia
TORONTO (U SPORTS) – The OUA champion Queen’s Gaels look to make history when the U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship Presented by the University of Ottawa opens in the nation’s capital later this week.

ROWING – Women’s and men’s rowing each finish third at OUA Championship
ST. CATHARINES, ONT. (October 26, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels rowing team picked up an impressive medal haul from the OUA Rowing Championships hosted by Brock University. Both the Queen’s women’s and men’s teams finish third overall.

WOMEN’S SOCCER – Queen’s upset by Toronto in OUA quarterfinals
Kingston, Ont. (October 27th, 2019) The Gaels (12-0-2, 0-1) undefeated season comes to end as the Toronto Varsity Blues upset Queen’s 3-0 in the OUA quarterfinals at Richardson Stadium.

MEN’S SOCCER – Men’s soccer season ends in Oshawa OSHAWA, Ont. (October 23, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (0-1) saw their season come to a close on Wednesday afternoon in Oshawa as they fell 1-0 to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks (1-0) in the OUA opening round of playoffs.
