Gaels celebrate big weekend of wins

Queen’s University has lots to celebrate after five of their teams finished out the weekend of Friday, Jan. 31 to Sunday, Feb, 2, 2020 victorious.
Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams continued to show their skills at home, with the men’s team taking the lead over the Laurier Golden Hawks in overtime on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 to win the game 89-87. The women’s basketball team, also playing Laurier, had a huge victory the same night, finishing the game 80-44 over the Golden Hawks.
On top of that, the men’s and women’s volleyball teams both took out the Nipissing Lakers 3-0 at home in Kingston on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020. And, while the men’s hockey team fell to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks with a 4-3 final on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, the women’s hockey team beat out Laurier 3-1, keeping their playoff chances alive.

MEN’S BASKETBALL – Range nets career-high 28, Luka Syllas has third straight double-double as Gaels win OT thriller over Laurier KINGSTON, Ont. (February 1, 2020) – The Queen’s Gaels (12-6) used overtime to defeat the Laurier Golden Hawks (9-10) 89-87 in OUA basketball action on Saturday night in Kingston.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – Chadwick dominant defensively with 21 rebounds and five blocks as Gaels blowout Laurier 80-44
KINGSTON, Ont. (February 1, 2020) – The No.10 Queen’s Gaels (11-7) had no trouble getting past the Laurier Golden Hawks (9-10) with an 80-44 victory on Saturday night.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY – Holmberg gets win 200, Johnston scores twice as Gaels keep playoff hopes alive with 3-1 win at Laurier WATERLOO, Ont. (February 1, 2020) – The Queen’s Gaels (8-9-3-1) defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-12-3-6) 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to pick up three points as they keep their playoff hopes alive.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL – Tricolour Trio of Siksna, Boljkovac and Hutcheson too much for Lakers
KINGSTON, Ont. (February 2, 2020) The No.8 Queen’s Gaels (11-4) went head-to-head with the Nipissing Lakers (8-6) on the Gaels home court this Sunday afternoon coming away with an easy 3-0 victory.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL – Cook has 12 kills and 13 digs as Gaels sweep Lakers KINGSTON Ont (February 2, 2020)- The Queen’s Gaels (10-6) served up a 3-0 sweep of the Nipissing Lakers (3-12) on Sunday afternoon at the Queen’s ARC.

MEN’S HOCKEY – Gaels pick up a point in OT loss to Ridgebacks as playoff positioning tightens KINGSTON, Ont. (January 31st, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (11-11-3) picked up a point but fell behind another in an overtime loss to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks (12-11-3) on Friday night. The Ridgebacks move to two points ahead of Queen’s in the OUA standings in a tie for fifth place. Queen’s remains in seventh.
