A call to police requesting officers carry out a well-being check at an address in Harrowsmith has led to an ongoing death investigation, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Officers with the Frontenac County OPP attended a residence just after 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, responding to the request for a well-being check, Acting Sergeant Erin Cranton, Media Coordinator for the East Region OPP, confirmed the following day.

As of late in the morning on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, OPP officers remained on scene at the residence, which is located on Church Street, just off of Highway 38 in the South Frontenac Township village.

Cranton did not say whether the death has been deemed suspicious in nature or whether the OPP suspect any sort of foul play was involved in the incident.

“This is an ongoing investigation and the post-mortem is pending. I am not able to speculate at this point,” she said.
