Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, storm width=This week I spent a few days away from the Limestone City, with a business trip to Ottawa, and a day of rest and relaxation in Toronto.  Needless to say, I am happy to be home, and looking forward to a weekend full of occasional showers and thunderstorms.  I’m not certain if tourism at Kingston’s favorite destinations has dipped dramatically this year, and although one could easily blame the economy, the poor weather might also hinder visits to our local outdoor attractions.  On the flip side, farmers and backyard gardeners are literally soaking it up.  Based on the success of my first year of vegetable gardening, I’ve been dubbed a certifiable green thumb.  That said, when it comes time to harvest, the summer will nearly be over, and I’m certainly less than excited about what lies beyond the Fall.    There’s still so much to see and do.  In the weeks to come, Kingstonist is planning on checking out the Haunted Walk, Wolfe Island Music Festival, Movies in the Square, and so much more!  In light of the economy, and the newly announced Via Rail strike, what sort of stay-cations do you have planned?  Since we got rid of the registration and login process, it’s easier than ever to take part in the conversation, so be sure to comment below.

Thanks to kingstongal for use of her stormy photo featuring Kingston’s waterfront at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.
