Freezing rain warning issued for Kingston and area

In addition to a previously issued rainfall warning, Environment Canada has now also issued a freezing rain warning for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton, and Sandbanks Park.
Rain will change over to freezing rain this evening except along the lakeshore where freezing rain may hold off until near midnight.
Freezing rain will continue the rest of the night, then end Sunday morning as the Texas Low moves away to the east.
Environment Canada says 5 to 10 mm of ice accretion is possible in many areas by Sunday morning.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
For safety, slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break and utility outages may occur.
