Former NHLer charged in wrong way collision on Highway 401

The Lennox and Addington Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a former local NHL player for causing a crash on Highway 401 in Napanee in May of this year.

Investigators determined that shortly after midnight on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, a pickup truck travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 collided head-on with a transport truck. The the driver, former NHL player Johnathan Erskine, sustained critical injuries from the collision and was transported to hospital.
Erskine, 39, of South Frontenac Township, has been charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, and operating a motor vehicle while over the legal blood alcohol limit.
