Former MPP John Gerretsen tests positive for COVID-19

Former Kingston mayor and MPP John Gerretsen has now tested positive for COVID-19, according to his son, MP Mark Gerretsen.
This comes just days after Assunta Gerretsen – John’s wife and Mark’s mother – tested positive for the virus on Monday, Mar, 16. The couple are currently in quarantine at CFB Trenton, where they have been since they returned from a cruise on the Grand Princess.
“Mom appears to be symptom free and has recovered from her cough. Dad has now also tested positive for COVID19 and has been moved to a new location,” MP Mark Gerretsen said in a Facebook post on Thursday, Mar. 19, 2020. “His symptoms appear to be a little worse indicating he has/had a fever. ?He reiterated to me that he wanted everyone to know how incredible the staff and people working around the clock at CFB Trenton have been. He is extremely grateful that they are in Canada receiving care.”
The Grand Princess docked in the Port of Oakland, California on Monday, Mar. 9, 2020 with 3,500 people on board, 21 of whom reportedly suffered from the coronavirus COVID-19 while at sea.

I hope they are willing to reimburse the Canadian government for all of the costs associated with flying them back home, and quarantining them, given they knowingly left the country when they knew the virus had been escalating all around the world for the previous two months. We didn’t have the virus in Canada until people went off travelling and brought it back.
I pray that he will recover quickly with no after effects.
