Fire on Rideau St displaces 11, causes $350k in damage

A fire at a Kingston residence that had recently been the subject of a drug raid has caused serious damage to the building.
On the evening of Sunday, October 27, Kingston Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a house on fire at 277 Rideau St.
Fire crews arrived to find flames and smoke coming out of the front door of the residence. A ladder was used to rescue a trapped male resident from the back roof of the residence. Altogether, Kingston Fire & Rescue say that two persons were taken to hospital by ambulance. The extent of their injuries is not currently known.
Damage to the townhome is estimated at $350,000.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Approximately 11 persons were displaced due the fire, according to Kingston Fire & Rescue.
The house was the subject of a drug raid on September 9, 2019, which also uncovered a large cache of weapons.
