Fire at Madeleine-De-Roybon causes approximately $100k in damages

Kingston Police and Kingston Fire and Rescue are currently investigating after a fire broke out at a portable building on the property of École Élémentaire Publique Madeleine-De-Roybon.

Kingston Fire and Rescue were called to the apparent structure fire at the French elementary school, located on Gilmour Avenue in central Kingston, at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jun. 23, 2021. There, firefighters found dark smoke emerging from the eaves of a portable and worked to extinguish the fire.

Kingston Police then secured the scene, and both Police and Fire were on scene on Thursday, Jun. 24, 2021 investigating.

At time of publication, the cause of the fire remains undetermined, and damages are estimated at $100,000.
