Final financial literacy talk will cover estate planning and wealth transition

Wealth advisor Laura Southall’s Financial Literacy for Women series brought Kingston-Frontenac women through the basics of smart decision-making, getting ready to retire, and saving taxes. Now, the series, hosted by Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL), concludes with a critical aspect of financial planning: how to pass wealth on to loved ones.
Financial Literacy for Women: Passing On Your Wealth is the fourth and final installment in a four-part series designed to empower women to better understand their financial situations at different stages of life, according to a release from KFPL.
The talk will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, over Zoom. Southall, Senior Wealth Advisor at Assante Financial Management Ltd, will cover probate, what happens to your estate when you die, the taxes for which your estate will be responsible and how you can transition your estate to your children and grandchildren as smoothly as possible, the library said.
“This is a great way for women to learn how to pass on what they’ve accumulated, and how to ensure that their family can make the most of the inheritance left to them,” said Anne Hall, Programming and Outreach Librarian.
