Fatal skydiving accident in Gananoque
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has been advised and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing to investigate a fatal skydiving incident in Gananoque on Saturday afternoon.
On July 20, 2019 at about 4:10 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the vicinity of Gananoque Airport on Airport Road for a report of a skydiving accident in which a parachute had either failed to deploy or had deployed improperly.
A 63-year-old female from Ennismore, Ontario perished from her injuries at the scene and a 51-year-old male from Alexandria, Ontario was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
No names have been released at this time.
The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) was notified of the incident and the OPP is continuing with the investigation in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office.
