Fatal fire in Stone Mills currently under investigation

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate after a fire in Stone Mills Township claimed the life of one person just after 12 a.m. today.
The Lennox and Addington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), assisted by the Lennox and Addington County OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Service all attended the scene of the fatal structure fire. Officers were dispatched to the fire, which broke out at a hunting camp setup on Mountain Road just after midnight on Tuesday, Apr. 21, 2020. Stone Mills Fire Department and Lennox and Addington County Paramedics also attended the scene.
According to the OPP, one individual succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire. The identity of the deceased has yet to be confirmed. Police said they believe the fire was caused accidentally, and that the deceased individual was the only person injured in the fire. The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office is now investigating.
