UPDATE: Fatal collision on Wolfe Island

Update (Oct. 19, 2021):

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have released the identity of a driver who died at the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Road 96 on Wolfe Island. The incident occurred just before 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021.

Michael Dunne, 57, from Liverpool, New York was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to OPP. Police also stated that speed was a factor in this incident.

The collision is still under investigation with assistance from the OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and Collision Reconstructionist.

Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing to investigate a fatal collision on Wolfe Island.

Police say that on Oct. 16, 2021 just before 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Road 96, on Wolfe Island. According to OPP, initial investigation shows that the vehicle rolled several times, entering a farmer’s field before coming to a stop.

The Wolfe Island Fire Department and Kingston Paramedics also responded to the collision.

The driver, a 57-year-old from Liverpool, New York, was the lone occupant and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OPP say the cause of the collision is still under investigation with assistance from the OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and Collision Reconstructionist. A post mortem is being conducted.
