Fatal collision on Highway 2 near Napanee

On October 16, 2020, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers of the Lennox & Addington County Detachment of the OPP, Lennox & Addington County Paramedics and fire crews responded to a report of a four vehicle collision on County Road 2, east of Little Creek road in Greater Napanee.

The road was closed for several hours while L&A County OPP, the OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) and the OPP Collision Reconstructionist team investigated the collision. OPP say that an eastbound vehicle and three westbound vehicles collided in the westbound lane. Two drivers were taken to hospital by Lennox and Addington County Paramedics.

The driver of the eastbound car was pronounced deceased and has been identified as Lawrence Batchilder, age 77 of Loyalist Township. The road re-opened later in the day and the investigation is ongoing.
