Family and Children’s Services announces new board chair

The Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (FACSFLA) released a statement today, Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, announcing Norma Jean Barrett, CD, JD, LLM as the new Chair of their Board of Directors. She replaces Dan Corbett who will become Chair Emeritus on the Board.
Barrett is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, Queen’s University, and York University, according to the announcement. After serving as a Logistics Officer for a number of years, she studied law and was called to the bar in 2012. She served as a legal officer until her retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces after 27 years of service. In 2019, Barrett began working for Student Affairs at Queen’s University.
Throughout her life, Norma has always prioritized serving her community as a volunteer. According to the statement, she began her work with the FACSFLA Board of Directors in 2017 and served as the Secretary, Vice Chair, and as the Chair of the Governance Committee, prior to her appointment as the Chair.
