Failure to heed stop sign in Picton results in drug charges

Officers from the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle which failed to stop at a stop sign on London Avenue in Picton over the weekend.

The incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 3, 2022, and the officers conducted a traffic stop. According to a release from the OPP, the driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant. A subsequent search revealed a quantity of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, OPP said.

Jody O’Brien, age 34 from Prince Edward County, was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance – other drugs and driving while under suspension.

O’Brien was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Monday, Apr. 4, 2022.
