Drivers on Sydenham Road between Horning Road and Rutledge Road in South Frontenac Township should anticipate traffic delays and rotating lane closures due to pavement rehabilitation activities.

During the week of Sept. 20, 2021, the Township will be moving forward with the rehabilitation activities on sections of Sydenham Road. The micro-surface treatments scheduled for Sydenham Road (County Rd 9) will extend the life of the pavement by an additional 6 to 8 years, according to a release from the township, dated Friday, Sept. 17, 2021. Ensuring highly travelled roadways are regularly maintained helps lengthen the lifespan of these major arteries and is part of the Township’s asset management plan.

The Township is asking that drivers proceed slowly through the construction and obey all signs and traffic control personnel throughout the work zone in order to ensure the safety of local workers and other travellers. Electronic mobile signage will be posted on Sydenham Road facing Northbound to alert residents of the construction starting next week, according to the release.

Residents with additional questions about the closure can contact Troy Dunlop, Manager of Technical Services and Infrastructure at 613-376-3027 ext. 3333 or via email to [email protected].

“Your patience and cooperation during this project is greatly appreciated by Council and staff,” the Township stated in the release.
