Commissionaires Kingston is holding a Security Guard recruitment drive this month. They are seeking people who are ready to expand their skills and knowledge, gain new experiences, and those looking for opportunities to make a difference in our communities.

Providing security solutions across eastern Ontario from Peterborough to Cornwall, the Kingston & Region Division of the Commissionaires is expanding and ready to meet you!
Commissionaires is an equal-opportunity employer that operates with a unique blend of youthful energy and seasoned judgement, with security industry professionals of all ages and from all walks of life. Working with the organization, you can be part of a wide-ranging community of students, responsible citizens, retired persons, and ex-law-enforcement and military professionals who ensure Canada is a more secure place.
As a Commissionaire, employees enjoy:
- Competitive pay
- Benefits package
- Full-time or part-time work
- Flexible shifts
- Invaluable work experience
Security Guards don’t experience a ‘typical day’ with Commissionaires. Serving government, industrial, and commercial sites means your scenery and experiences may change day-to-day. What won’t change is your commitment to client satisfaction. The entire management organization is geared to providing direct support to on-site guards. Consistent support from Site Supervisors, District Mangers, and the Director of Operations means guards can focus on providing a safe and secure environment for the client.
Guards can be expected to control access to sites, provide Contractor Escorts, CCTV monitoring, perform Parking Bylaw services, Reception duties, Dispatch duties, Secure Courier services, and Mobile Patrol and Alarm Response.
Ashley, a current HR Coordinator with Commissionaires, shared her success story:
“I joined the Commissionaires 12 years ago to gain experience after finishing Police Foundations at Algonquin College. During those 12 years, I worked as a Site Guard in Kingston District at several different sites, including CFB Kingston, the Penitentiaries, and short-term Festivals and Fairs.”
“I then worked as a Driver/Call Operator for the Security Operations Centre, where I performed regular patrols and answered alarm calls. I was given the opportunity to move up to a Supervisory position and then to Assistant Manager of the Security Operations Centre. A couple of months ago, I made the switch to Human Resources and am working as the HR Coordinator and enjoying the new learning experiences that come with it.”

The Canadian Corps of Commissionaires was founded in Canada in 1925. Today, Commissionaires employ over 20,000 men and women across Canada, of all ages and from many walks of life. One of the key cornerstones of their business is continued and up-to-date training. Commissionaires training meets and exceeds all industry standards, and is offered as part of the onboarding process.
As a Not-For-Profit corporation, Commissionaires is able to invest in a comprehensive training program and management structure that puts priority on the delivery of quality services and client satisfaction. The company works to provide a Living Wage and has a benefits program, including Paid Sick Days, an Employee and Family Assistance Plan, and Extended Health and Dental coverage.
To be eligible for employment with Commissionaires, individuals must:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Have a clean criminal record
