Execution of warrant in Amherstview leads to drug and child pornography arrests

Two men from Amherstview are facing multiple charges after the execution of a drug warrant also lead to child pornography charges.
Members from the Napanee Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment, along with members of the Napanee OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Community Street Crime Unit of Napanee, Frontenac and Prince Edward County executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Amerherst Drive in Loyalist Township on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 at approximately 4:35 p.m.
During the execution of the warrant, electronic devices and other items pertinent to the investigation were seized, according to the OPP. Some of the digital devices were found to contain images of child sex abuse.
Darren Patrick Jones, 53, of Amherstview, was arrested and has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of accessing child pornography.
Shaun Michael Jones, 51, of Amherstview, was also arrested. He is charged with trafficking a schedule 1 substance (crystal methamphetamine).
Both men are jointly charged with:
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (crystal methamphetamine)
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (Percocet)
Both of the accused men were held in police custody to attend a bail hearing today in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee.
