Punks not dead: D.O.A. and Pkew Pkew Pkew to rock the Limestone City

Canadian punk rockers D.O.A. will play The Mansion in Kingson on Friday, Jun. 17, 2022 presented by K.P.P.

Punk and live music fans rejoice as Kingston Punk Productions (KPP) are back for the 2022 summer concert season with the Limestone city’s hook up for all things live music.

Coming up on the docket this weekend in Kingston are a pair of back-to-back punk shows featuring Canadian punk icons DOA and PkewPkewPkew on Friday, Jun. 17, 2022, at The Mansion in downtown Kingston (19+).

D.O.A. are known as some of Canada’s most legendary punk kings and have been spreading punk rock counterculture around the world for nearly 25 years.

In 1981, D.O.A. adopted the term “hardcore” with their legendary album Hardcore 81, which has been cited as a major influence for tons mega international acts, including The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Rancid, and The Offspring.

D.O.A.’s sound, although always rooted in punk rock, also manages to incorporate elements of rock n’ roll, reggae, metal, and ska.

To celebrate the bands 25th anniversary, they’ve put together and released the definitive D.O.A. album, War and Peace, a 25-track compilation of D.O.A.’s greatest recorded moments.

Pkew Pkew Pkew are a three-piece punk outfit from Toronto who have been in the scene for a while. They’ve opened on cross-continental tours with fellow punk acts Anti-Flag and The Flatliners.

They’ve also headlined their own shows across North America, Europe, and the U.K., and have become mainstays at punk festivals like Montreal’s Pouzza Fest and Gainesville blowout The Fest.

Along the way, they say their fans have grown with them… with a loyal fan base of sports dads and young kids that wanna drink and barf on each other. While their 2016 self-titled debut angled more towards the minutiae of the late-20s punk life, their new material steps back to look at the root causes.

This show is 19+ and doors open at 7:30 p.m. with The Beta 58’s and The Massacre set to open. Tickets are available online or in person at Brian’s Record Option, located in downtown Kingston.

So, whether you’re an old punk or a new punk, whether you want to mosh or stand in the back and sip your IPA, this weekend’s shows will have something for everyone!
