Erratic driving on Highway 401 leads to heroin possession charges

Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped an erratic driver on Highway 401 in Greater Napanee and seized a quantity of suspected heroin.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, OPP officers observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner while on patrol on Highway 401 westbound in Greater Napanee, according to a release from OPP.
Police initiated a traffic stop just after the Deseronto Road exit. During the investigation, officers conducted a Standard Field Sobriety Test and the driver was subsequently arrested taken to L&A County detachment for further testing, OPP said. According to the release, police seized approximately four grams of suspected heroin.
As a result, Narinderdeep Swaitch, age 28, of Brampton has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; and
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance.
Swaitch was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in December 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Swaitch will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
