Erratic driving leads to arrest on Highway 401

Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an eastbound vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Highway 401 in Tyendinaga Township at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jul. 10, 2021.  

Police initiated a traffic stop near the Deseronto Road exit and determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment, according to a release from the OPP. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further processing by a Drug Recognition Expert Officer. 

L&A County OPP have charged Xuan Hoang Doan, age 44, of North York with:

• Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drug

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on August 3, 2021. Doan’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. They will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
