Erratic driving leads to arrest by OPP near Napanee

A 38 year old man from Kingston has had his licence suspended and car impounded after officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle driving in an erratic manner on Highway 401 westbound. 

On Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at approximately 8 p.m., OPP initiated a traffic stop near the Greater Napanee exit on Highway 401 westbound and arrested the driver who was later transported back to L&A County OPP detachment for processing, according to a report dated Monday, Oct. 26, 2020.

As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged Dale Joseph Menard, age 38, of Kingston, Ontario with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; and,
  • Failure or Refusal to comply with demand

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in January, 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Menard will be responsible for all fees and fines related to this incident.
