#ygkChallenge: Spring Thaw Clean Up

garbage pickup, cleanup litterWelcome to Kingstonist’s weekly challenge, dare, resolution or whatever you prefer to call it. Each week we establish a new and ambitious community goal, encouraging our readers, followers, friends and families to step out of their comfort zones and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. Consider this your official and personal invitation to join us in completing a small but meaningful achievement. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston a slightly better place to live, work and play. And of course, we also hope that you will feel proud of your contribution and achievement.

This week’s challenge encourages you to:

Clean up the winter mess. OK, I realize I may have jinxed us a bit with my premature post about spring events a couple of weeks ago, but I’m feeling more confident now that I can see my lawn again.  Unfortunately, litter tends to accumulate over the course of the winter and it rears its ugly head as the snow disappears.  This week we challenge you to do your part by cleaning up the trash around your home.  You could event take it one step further: last spring I was out for a walk and came across a guy who was also out walking, but he was also collecting garbage in a bag as he went.  If we all participate in keeping our city clean, we’ll all benefit and have something to be proud of come tourist season.

Thanks to racineur for today’s photo.
