Kingston Represented at International Agri-Business Expo

The Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) in conjunction with the Ontario East Economic Development Commission is attending the SIAL Canada (Salon International de l’Alimentation) International Food Expo in Montreal, Quebec from May 9 – May 11.

The SIAL Canada show is one of the food processing industry’s most important meeting places for North America, hosting close to 700 exhibitors and 13,000 visitors from over 60 countries over the course of three days each year.

“We’re extremely excited to have Kingston represented as a business destination for food processing and agri-business at this caliber of showcase. The city offers food manufacturers a number of competitive advantages and we look forward to meeting with new potential companies to introduce to the city,” says Jeff Garrah, Chief Executive Officer of the KEDCO.

Joining the Kingston business development team is Chef Clark Day, owner and executive chef of Aqua Terra Restaubistro and local producer. Chef Day will be presenting local food demonstrations throughout the SIAL tradeshow to attract delegates to sample the flavours of Kingston and to speak to business manufacturers about local producers and the advantages of doing business in our area.

“Eastern Ontario is home to more than 1,500 food processing operations and hosts the Province’s second largest food cluster. Events and international tradeshows, such as SIAL assist in positioning Ontario East as a centre of investment – allowing Ontario East and its member communities, the chance to meet with international companies looking for an entry point into the Canadian market,” notes Jackie St. Pierre, Executive Director of the Ontario East Economic Development Commission.
