Enjoy music, art, and nature on Cloud 9 in Lyndhurst
A new outdoor music festival combining the beauty of nature, art, and music will have you dancing on Cloud 9 less than an hour north of Kingston — and we’d like to send one lucky Kingstonist subscriber and a guest!

The very first Cloud 9 Electronic Music and Eco-Art Festival is scheduled to happen at the beautiful No.9 Gardens in Lyndhurst on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022 starting at 11:00 a.m. and going right through until 1:00 the next morning.
The festival is a one-day-only fundraising event aiming to raise not just money, but awareness about No.9 Gardens and their amazing land-based educational facility.
No.9 Gardens was launched in 2018 in partnership with Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre, an incubator program at Queen’s University that “build[s] changemakers by encouraging and supporting their entrepreneurial initiatives through incubators, workshops, programs, courses, and pitch competitions.”
The No.9 website describes the gardens project as a hands-on teaching facility created to empower youth to lead them towards a revolution of building greener and more resilient communities.
The gardens provide an immersive experience to visitors, students, and volunteers by offering a feel for what it is really like to live off the land and within your means. They highlight the importance of sustainable living by offering programs like how to build a garden and grow your own food, how to live off the grid, and how to find joy in simply immersing yourself in nature.
Organizers hope that, by hosting the Cloud 9 music event at the gardens, they will bring more awareness and attention to the incredible and easily accessible land-based educational facility.
Speaking of incredible, this event is founded and directed by a youth committee comprised of 12 students, artists, and musicians, aged 21 to 25, who are passionate about the need to ignite change from the ground up.
Reily Morrison, Director of Cloud 9, says, “As citizens of this younger generation, we have a lot of anxieties and fears about climate change, colonial violence and, of course, this ongoing pandemic. We are channeling our energy into curating this festival because we believe in the power of art and music to inspire social and environmental change. Out of this festival, we hope to foster community and build a youth-led cultural shift in our society.”
Not only will the Cloud 9 music festival show off their incredible 40 acre grounds, but the festival will also exhibit the visual works of 9 artists who have just finished installing conceptual art pieces across the property. The pieces will then work harmoniously with the ambient electronic sounds featured by nine young up-and-coming musical performers. Click here for set times and more details.
The festival will also feature a variety of local food, drink, and small sustainable business vendors.
Tickets are $75 and include shuttle bus transportation to the gardens from the Memorial Centre in Kingston.
BUT BEFORE YOU GO… if you’re a Kingstonist subscriber, you could win a pair of tickets to the show!
