Enbridge Confirms There is No Oil Pipeline Break in Kingston
Enbridge has confirmed that there has been no oil spill in the city of Kingston.
Fake notices referencing an oil spill and clean-up effort, and marked with the Enbridge logo, were delivered to a number of residential mailboxes this morning.
“These notices appear to be delivered by the perpetrators of a hoax. We want to assure residents that we have investigated the contents of the notice with Enbridge and Utilities Kingston and can confirm that there was no oil spill,” says Rhéaume Chaput, Chief of Kingston Fire and Rescue.
A website mentioned in the fake notice also contains false information and a picture of a sign that makes use of the City’s logo. The City has not created any such sign and this use of the City logo was unauthorized.
