Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Kingston and the area as of 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Jul. 17, 2019.

The advisory has been issued for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton, and Sandbanks Park and states that locally heavy rain is possible this morning.

“Showers and thunderstorms will continue to developed over the area this morning. Locally heavy rainfall accumulations of 20 to 40 mm will be possible by the time the precipitation comes to an end later this morning,” the statement reads.

The national weather agency advises that additional showers and thunderstorms are expected late this afternoon.
